INTERNATIONAL TECHNICAL DEGREE IN FRAGRANCE CREATION AND SENSORY EVALUATION

The INTERNATIONAL TECHNICAL DEGREE IN FRAGRANCE CREATION AND SENSORY EVALUATION at the GRASSE INSTITUTE OF PERFUMERY (GIP) is an international program dedicated to careers in fragrance creation and evaluation. Taught entirely in English in Grasse, the historic birthplace of perfumery, it combines traditional craftsmanship with scientific knowledge and contemporary techniques. The program prepares students to master the various stages of fragrance creation, from understanding raw materials to building accords, while developing their ability to analyze and evaluate fragrance compositions.

TRAINING OBJECTIVES

To train professionals specializing in the creation and evaluation of scents.

Gain an in-depth understanding of raw materials and composition techniques.

Develop expertise that combines the traditional craftsmanship of Grasse with contemporary methods.

Prepare students for the technical and regulatory requirements of the international fragrance industry.

Earn a recognized professional certification in the perfume industry.

SKILLS DEVELOPED

Identify, recognize, and use the main raw materials used in perfumery.

Master the vocabulary and fragrance families.

Design, create, and balance fragrance blends.

Develop precision and mastery in the process of composition.

Analyze and evaluate the sensory characteristics of a fragrance.

Understand the analytical techniques used in industry, including gas chromatography and mass spectrometry.

Apply international regulations governing fragrances and cosmetics.

Develop formulations for various fragrance applications: perfumes, shampoos, shower gels, creams, etc.

RHYTHM

The course is taught entirely in English.

A combination of theoretical instruction, practical exercises, and laboratory work.

A training program focused on the practice of olfactory creation, analysis, and evaluation.

ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS

Required level of education: 5 years of post-secondary education Admission based on olfactory tests and selection exams Open to applicants from around the world 12 students are selected each year for their creativity and sense of smell
