On April 24, 2025, the Communauté d’Agglomération du Pays de Grasse (CAPP), via Grasse Campus, renewed its strategic partnership with ECAM-EPMI, a prestigious engineering school, and SUEZ, a major player in water management and environmental services. This three-year partnership aims to strengthen synergies between higher education, applied research, and ecological transition throughout the Grasse region.
As part of this agreement, a CIFRE thesis is being launched on a major environmental issue: the reuse of treated wastewater (REUT) for industrial or municipal purposes. This research will be conducted by a doctoral student recruited by SUEZ, in close collaboration with ECAM-EPMI and CAPG. It will be based at the La Paoute wastewater treatment plant in Grasse, which already hosts a REUT demonstrator for assessing the quality of treated water and its potential for reuse.
The objectives of this project are:
- To map industrial water use in the Grasse basin;
- Identify the specific needs of economic actors;
- To propose technical and economic solutions incorporating REUT;
- To size the necessary infrastructure, taking into account the regulatory framework.
It is fully in line with CAPG's strategy promoting water conservation, innovation, and regional resilience.
Beyond this research, the partnership also provides for professional involvement in training programs, internship and work-study opportunities, engineering projects, and cooperation on R&D projects.
